What is the one thing about Silvia Tcherassi that you hope never changes?
Although the brand has evolved with the times, I have always prided myself on the fact that our DNA and the notion of effortless elegance has remained intact, if anything, it only grows stronger with each passing year. When a luxury brand has a strong foundation, its identity becomes easier to preserve, even as it continues to change and evolve. And I know that in your hands, that will never change.
What has been the best part about working with me since I officially joined the company a few years ago?
Both you and Mauricio have been a big part of the evolution I just mentioned, and because you have grown within the business, that DNA is truly ingrained in you. But in many ways, you have both breathed fresh air into it as well, bringing ideas and experiences that are entirely your own. I am always so proud to see how you carry that in.
Is there anything about the way my grandmother raised you that you feel contributed to your success?
There is so much of her in this brand, not only because she co-founded it with me, but because her guidance has been integral to everything we have built. My mother has always modeled strength, elegance and a remarkable work ethic. As you know, she has never been afraid to explore different worlds: banking, art, writing– most recently she debuted a series of sculptures exhibited in Madrid. Growing up with that kind of example is quite special, and all of it has shaped both my career and this brand in ways I continue to discover.
Out of all of your accomplishments, what is the one that makes you the most proud about yourself?
I am proud that my accomplishments have opened doors for others— in ways I could not have imagined when I started. The industry has changed enormously since those early days, and there were so many firsts. To be able to say that this was the first Latin American luxury brand of its kind is something I hold very close–and it is important to continue opening those doors. We do that through our mentorships and our scholarship with Istituto Marangoni, which recently expanded to include applicants from across the region.
Leaving work aside, what are some of your favorite activities you enjoy doing with me?
I think you know the answer to this one— and while I do love the process of bringing a collection to life, from our yearly trips to Como to select fabrics, to bouncing ideas off each other while dreaming up the next season, I also love the moments when it is just the two of us making our signature fresh tomato pasta—the one we learned during one of our summers in Italy.
